Black Friday Free

7-hat-frontAs shoppers in the USA madly rush about today, Black Friday, supposedly the biggest shopping day of the year, I’m so very content to stay home. I’m not into the crowds thing, nor fighting over those few ‘perfect’ things on the store shelf.

And for those of you out there that share my avoidance of the store-wide masses in gridlock, I’m giving away a hand knit chicken hat this weekend. A friend brought me back a couple of these from Ecuador. They’re wool, but also lined with fleece to keep the itch away.kodie-chicken-hat

If you’d like to own it (a perfect FREE gift for the child in your life this holiday season), just leave a comment below and tell me who you’d share it with (or maybe you’d like to keep it for yourself?)

Simple as that.

And may all of our overstuffed Thanksgiving bellies slow down enough to truly enjoy the things that really matter. (And NO I’m not just talking about bonding with the chickens. LOL!)

Happy Thanksgiving weekend everybody!

PS I’ll announce a winner on Monday, Dec 2nd.

I would love to win this for my daughter.

  2. Jess says:

Great idea! I’m all about avoiding the masses and chaos!

As a momma of four, I would give this to my three-year-old daughter, Ivy. I may even talk her into a chicken dance :)

  3. Grace Q. says:

Those hats are so adorable. My 8 yr. old daughter would love to have one. She loves our backyard hens, she reads to them, sings to them, and covers their cages at night. She even claims she can speak chicken. LOL.

  4. Lori Falkenstien says:

Hmmm…this is a tough one! My initial reaction would be to give it to my 3 yr old granddaughter because she loves chickens as much as I do and she would be ADORABLE in it but I love it and it would be hard to part with. And as an added bonus I’m sure I would embarrass the heck out of my soon to be 13 yr old son if he were to ever be seen with me while wearing this. :)

I will share that cute hat with my great-niece Kylie. She is 1-1/2 year old sweet active little girl. She has fun making animal noises and will look really cute in the hat making chicken sounds and keeping warm at the same time.

  6. Heather says:

I would share the hat with one of my two boys. I think that they would like to look like one of our pet chickens :]

  7. Gayle Bender-Uhl says:

    Love to have it!

  8. Julie Kaartinen says:

I’d like this little hat for my doggy! My two-year-old Goldendoodle, Kaija, would look so adorable in it on our winter walks. And I’m with you . . . boycotting Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and all things “consumerism!” I’m all about a simple, hand-made Christmas season! (Too bad the hats don’t come in super-small size – I think my five girls would look adorable in them, too!) :-)

  9. Becca says:

I’m staying home, too! Even the grocery store scares me on Black Friday. Those hats are adorable!

  10. Jen says:

My family and I also share in your staying home and avoiding the crowds! I used to be one of those who did Black Friday shopping. Not worth it. We have decided this year to simplify our holidays and are doing homemade/handmade gifts this year. We have 14 chickens and I am in love with them! We’ve had them for 2 years and they are very spoiled! ;) All of my friends call me The Obsessed Chicken Lady because of how much I love, talk and spend time with my chickens ! Love the hat and I would love to have it for myself! I could wear it and be Momma Hen when I’m out with my free ranging girls! Happy Holidays!!!

  11. Jen B says:

I would love to see my niece wearing it. Adorable!

  12. Debbie Rinehart says:

The chicken hat would be adorable on my 3 year old granddaughter Caitlyn. Cait loves my hens as much as I do. When she comes to visit, she checks on the hens before coming to the house to see me. She gets so excited collecting eggs and, like her Nana, thinks of each one is a gift. I’m sure Cait would like to share the other sweet hat with her brother Sam.

  13. Tam says:

I was very excited about this until I saw it was for a child. Alas.. I am an adult with a pumpkin sized noggin… Give it to someone with a child… or a child sized head! Very cute though!

    • Kerrie says:

I know, right? My friend brought me back one from Ecuador one year and it WAS adult sized…so when she went back the next year, all she could find were the smaller ones. They made them smaller and doubled the price! But they’re still cute. There’s some stretch to it, but I just tried to stick it on my big head and it was a NO GO! :(

  14. Beth says:

I would share this my girls 5 & 3, we just started with chickens this year and they have been a joy to our family! I would maybe even wear it too!

  15. Christine R says:

I would share this cute little hat with my sweet little 7 year old girl. She has ADHD. After seeing the nasty side effects of meds we opted to go the healthy eating route. My daughter takes her sweet tooth from me but knowing how sugars and food dyes make her go berserk for a week (getting her in to trouble at home and school), she tries super hard to reject any offers of candy and sweets from friends, school, and cheerleading. She even avoids the occasion box of cookies or donuts in the house. I know this is not easy for her, but I am super proud of her maturity and taking responsibility for her health. She has been trying extra hard to control her behavior, outburts, and teasing her little brother. I would love to let her know how proud I am of her and her hard work.

  16. Carrie DeBord says:

I woud love to win this for a little girl that LOVES hats!

  17. What an adorable hat! I would be so tempted to wear it myself since I can’t have chickens anymore and I miss them like crazy! But I’d undoubtedly end up giving it away to a special little girl who I know…

  18. Shawndra Scanlon says:

I would share with my Grandson,He loves his girls (Chickens)And thinks they are awesome

  19. Lisa Gardner says:

I would share this with the newest member of my family, Harrison. He was a good boy and came a tad early so he could see his Auntie before she had to get on a plane to go home.
